Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson congratulates area residents who completed two certifications
On Friday, November 3, 2017, City of Gary’s Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson made a visit to the WorkOne in Gary to congratulate and address 10 area students who received nationally recognized certifications in both Retail Fundamentals and ServSafe® Food Handling. The students completed the two-week training course, facilitated at WorkOne Gary. Coursework focused on the basic principles of retail, customer service, general food service knowledge, and best food safety practices.
The next available trainings for retail will be Loss Prevention training from December 4-22, 2017, Customer Service & Sales from January 16-29, 2018, and Retail Fundamentals from February 19-March 2, 2018. This training will take place at the Retail Training Lab at Southlake Mall in Merrillville.
For further information or to register, contact Susan Richardson at 219-362-2175, ext. 535 or srichardson@gotoworkonenw.com.
The no-cost training programs are made possible with funding from Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership through a Walmart Foundation grant.
